Scholarships
The following scholarships are made possible by donations to Assumption High School. These scholarships are awarded annually to AHS students for their leadership and exemplary abilities and talents. For information on how you can make a tribute gift to one of the following scholarships or establish an endowed fund in honor of your family or someone who has made an impact on your life, please contact the Advancement Office at (502) 458-6258.

McAuley Scholars
Freshman/Entrance Placement Exam Top Scorers
For students taking the High School Entrance/Placement Exam at Assumption, scholarships for the freshman year are awarded to the top six scorers in the following order:
- First Place $2,000
- Second Place $1,000
- Third Place $750
- Fourth Place $500
- Fifth Place $500
- Sixth Place $500
Angela's Gift
- This scholarship was established in memory of Angela BecVar to award $500 to a freshman who has been diagnosed with a learning difference and is a participant in the post secondary planning program at Assumption.

Laura Lynn Abell Memorial Scholarship
- This $1,000 tuition grant is given in memory of Laura Abell and is awarded to a current junior for her senior year who has...

The Paulette and Jerry Adams Scholarship for Excellence in Learning
- This $500 scholarship was established by Dr. Paulette Freeman Adams ’60, a former member of the Board of Directors at Assumption High School, and her husband, Jerry, for a freshman or sophomore student who meets the following criteria:
- Must qualify for financial aid
- Maintain 2.75 GPA or above
- Be involved in school-related activities
- Demonstrate academic achievement
- Demonstrate leadership in community service or extracurricular activities

Break the Cycle

This scholarship was established by The Mary Byron Foundation in memory of Mary Byron,
a 1991 Assumption graduate and victim of domestic violence.

This three-year $2,000 per year scholarship is a tuition grant for students who maintain a 3.50 GPA and wish to undertake a leadership opportunity among their peers and in the community relating to domestic violence. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a sophomore, junior, and senior, and may be renewed as long as the student attends Assumption and meets the requirements as outlined on the downloadable file below. Recipients of this scholarship will be required to attend a one-day orientation/workshop each summer that they apply or renew.

Gina Marie Clark Memorial Scholarship
- This $500 scholarship was begun by the Assumption Class of 1986 in memory of Gina Marie Clark to be awarded to a current junior who...

M.J.'s Memorial Scholarship
- TThis scholarship was established by Arthur P. and Ronda Hipwell in memory Art’s sister, Mary Jane Hipwell, and in honor of the leadership of the first Assumption President, Mary Lee McCoy. Mr. Hipwell is a member of Assumption High School’s Board of Directors and a long time supporter of Catholic education. This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman who applies and qualifies for financial assistance.
- A $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a rising freshman whose family applies and qualifies for financial assistance and the student:
- Maintains a 2.5 GPA
- Demonstrates leadership in the classroom or in the community
- Completes a typed essay
- Provides two written references

Guardian Angel Scholarship
- This scholarship was designated to provide a tuition grant for students who adhere to Christian values, have a strong desire to obtain a Catholic secondary education and qualify for financial assistance. This scholarship varies in amount and is sponsored by several anonymous benefactors.

Amy Mangino Memorial Scholarship
- The family and friends of Amy Mangino, a 1999 graduate, established this memorial scholarship of $500 for a current junior who:

Ava Meagher Memorial Scholarship
- This scholarship in an amount up to $2,500 is awarded annually to a current sophomore who meets the following criteria:

Martha Ann Nord Memorial Scholarship
- The family of Martha Nord, a teacher at Assumption High School for eight years, established this $2,000 memorial scholarship for a current junior.
- Applicants must be nominated by an administrator, teacher, or staff member to be considered for this scholarship. Nomination forms are made available in March. If you are interested in applying, please ask your homeroom teacher, guidance counselor, or another faculty or staff member to nominate you.
Stephanie Pulford Memorial Scholarship
- Donald and Elizabeth Pulford endowed this $1,000 scholarship in loving memory of their daughter, Stephanie, a 1993 graduate. This scholarship is awarded to a junior who meets the following criteria:
- works to her fullest potential academically;
- qualifies for financial assistance for her senior year;
- plans on pursuing a college career.

The Harriet Hamilton Thompson Memorial Scholarship
- Tim and Barbara Thompson established two $500 scholarships in memory of Harriet Hamilton Thompson, mother of Anne-Hamilton Thompson, a 2003 Assumption High School graduate. These two scholarships are awarded to two current juniors who meet the following criteria:
- Works to her fullest potential academically
- Qualifies for financial aid for her senior year
- Demonstrates care and concern for others
- Is involved in school-related activities
- Shows support for fellow classmates in the classroom, clubs and sport activities

The Mary Varga Life of Courage Award
- This $500 scholarship is given in honor of Mary Varga Daugherty a 1977 graduate of Assumption High School who leads an inspirational life in spite of a brain injury that she sustained after a car accident in 1995. The scholarship for tuition will be given to a sophomore or junior who is nominated by a student, faculty/staff member, or administrator. Nominees must demonstrate courage and strength of character in spite of current or past adversity whether by reason of health, disability, family circumstance or otherwise. The ideal candidate will have a positive outlook, sense of humor, and be an inspiration to her classmates and others.

Jennifer Zimlich Memorial Scholarship
- John and Sherri Zimlich created this fund in memory of their daughter, Jennifer to provide a grant for a senior who excels in visual arts or photography.

Alumnae Association Spirit Scholarship
- The Assumption High School Alumnae Association has established a $750 scholarship to recognize a current junior who demonstrates class leadership, school spirit, and devotion to the community of Assumption.
