University of Notre Dame Pre-College Program

Carnegie Mellon: A Summer of Exploration
- Open to students entering their junior or senior year
- June 28-August 8, 2008
- Students choose between an Advances Placement/Early Action Program, a pre-college Fine Arts program, and a National High School Game Academy

Vanderbilt University: Med School 101
- Open to students age 16 +
- Runs from July 6-26
- Students take a 3 week class taught by Vanderbilt University medical school faculty
- Deadline: February 15, 2008

Vanderbilt University: Pre-College PAVE
- Open to current 11th graders (class of 2009)
- Runs from June 23 - August 1, 2008
- Explore a major and a career in engineering, medicine, the sciences and other technology-based areas

Oxford and Cambridge Universities: Oxbridge Academic Programs
- Open to students completing 9th grade
- Oxford Program runs July 4-30
- Cambridge Program runs July 6-August 1
- Students will choose 2 courses from various offerings

- Open to students in 9th-12th grade

North Carolina School of the Arts: Summer Session
- Open to students of various ages
- Runs June 22-July 25
- Students can choose from a concentration in dance, drama, filmmaking, music or the visual arts

University of Louisville: Professional Education Preparation Program
- Open for 2008 graduating seniors interested in medicine or dentistry
- Runs June 21-July 25
- Housing, local transportation, class materials are provided free with a weekly $80 stipend
- Non-credit courses are for academic enrichment in freshman level science and math courses to equip students with the necessary tools to transition from high school to college

JSA: Junior State of America
- Open to 9th-12th grades; students who are pursuing a career in politics or public service
- Program runs:
- Georgetown University: June 15th – July 6th or July 13th – Aug 3
- Yale University: June 22 – July 17th
- Princeton University June 22 – July 17th
- Stanford University: June 29 – July 24th
- Each school offers a variety of courses and experiences including attending one or two National Conventions

- Shakespeare in Italy: July 21- August 5
- Arete: A Summer Program for High School Students: July 13-July 26 that explores the liberal arts

School of the Museum of the Fine Arts: Pre-college Summer Studio
- Open to students who have completed their sophomore year of high school
- Program runs June29- August 1
- Unique and rigorous program focused on making and sharing art in Boston
- Partnership with Tufts and Northeastern Universities and the Museum of Fine Arts
- Housing Application Deadline: April 2; All Applications due by April 9

Washington University in St. Louis: High School Summer Scholars Program
- Open to students 16+ and a high school junior; academic average of B+ or better; SAT at least 1800, combined PSAT score of 180, or a composite ACT or PLAN of at least 25
- Two summer sessions:
- June 8-July 12 (deadline May 2)
- July 13-Augist 15 (deadline June 6)
- Application fee waived if application is received by March 2
- College courses for credit available in a variety of areas; developed to give high school students a taste of college

United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar, 2008
- June 7-13 and June 14-20, 2008
- The United States Military Academy offers outstanding juniors the opportunity to experience cadet life at West Point during this seminar

Clemson University
- Clemson University is offering a Summer Science, Engineering and Architecture Enrichment program for gifted middle and high school students.
- Students must be in the top 10% of the class to apply

Foundation for Teaching Economics: Economics for Leaders
- Open for high school juniors
- Runs June 1–June 5
- Teaches economic reasoning and leadership skills

- Summer at Georgetown offers engaging courses and unique programs in college preparation, business, journalism (photo and print), international relations, and American politics.

Take the Lead: Mount Holyoke College
- Open to 9th-12th grade students
- Runs June29- July 12
- Learning about leadership especially focusing on being a woman leader
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but are limited to 80 openings

Educational Tours: Global Citizen Awards
- Open to high school current sophomores or juniors
- The program challenges students to consider their roles in the world through writing and allows them to put their words into practice with an international, educational tour to the winners
- Postmark deadline for applications is February 28; tour will be in July

Boston University:
- High School Honors is a 6 week program – attending 2 college courses for credit
- Students must be entering their senior year
- Summer Challenge is a 2 week program – attending 2 non-credit seminars in a variety of subjects

Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference:
- Workshops offered in fiction, poetry and creative non fiction

- Program includes a two week college credit course that will reflect college life
- Other activities allow students to prepare for the college environment

University of Alabama:
- Capstone Business Leadership Academy
- Runs June 16-25 or July 14-23
- Open to students who are seniors in Fall 2008, a GPA of at least 3.4, 27 on ACT or 1210 on SAT and has an interest of business education and career

- Professional Education Preparation Program Application – for graduating seniors held at U of L and UK

Notre Dame Summer Scholars
- Open to juniors and seniors who excel academically
- Two weeks of study and fieldwork (choose from 10 fields) while living at Notre Dame life
- Deadline is March 1, 2008
New York Film Academy
- Open to high school students ages 14-17
- Available in Hollywood, Paris, New York, London, Florence, Harvard, Orlando and LA
- Various deadlines for the different locations, see guidance for more information
Northwestern University
- Several summer programs in film and video, speech, theatre arts and policy debate

Murray State University:
- Annual summer workshop from June 8 – 13
- Focuses on drawing and print making but includes other art
- Applications available in Guidance
Indiana University Kelley School of Business Young Women’s Institute:
- Open to high school juniors (during the 2007-2008 school year), minimum GPA of 3.5
- 2 sessions: June 1-6 and June 8-13
- Learn about career options in the field of business and explore IU
- All expenses are paid except transportation to IU and personal spending money

Holy Cross High School Summer Program:
- Summer School Program for Catholic High School students
- Registration is at Holy Cross May 28 - June 6 fro 9 am to 2:30 pm
- 2 summer program sessions: June 9 – June 20 and June 23 – July 3

St. George’s University Med/Vet Summer Academy:
- High school session (age 15-17) June 26 – July 5
- Location is Grenada West Indies
- Cost of program $1,800.00 for housing, meals, medical instruction, activities and all transportation while in Grenada

Jonathan R Reynolds Young Writers Workshop
- Runs June 15-22
- Open to current sophomores, juniors and seniors
- Allows HS students to explore the craft of writing while at Denison University
- Workshops, crosswriting, individual conferences, and meeting the writers activities

California College for the Arts
- Runs June 30-July 25
- Open to students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year
- Study art or creative writing which earns 3 college credits

University of Louisville INSPIRE Program
- Runs June 3-June 27
- Focused on students who have been historically underrepresented in engineering (African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans and females)
- Classes held in the morning M-F for the four week period for no cost
- Deadline is April 18

Unites States Naval Academy Summer Seminar
- Open to high school students who are currently juniors who are interested in the Navy

- Runs one week during the summer
Indiana University Jacobs School of Music
- Wind Band Conducting Workshop
- Runs June 23-June25
- Application available in guidance and due May 12
Adventure Ireland
- Several different trips available ranging from 10 days to one year abroad
- Summer camp for high students takes place in July

Indiana University of Pennsylvania Robert E Cook Honors College
- Open to high school juniors and seniors
- Scholarship nomination form available in guidance
- Program runs July 13-July 26
- Program involved taking college courses to learn more about the college atmosphere
Boston University Summer Term High School Programs
- A six or two week program available
- Courses are both for credit and non credit or students can pursue scientific research with a faculty member

- Available to students entering into their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school

- US Performing Arts Camps – several locations (closest is UK in Lexington, furthest is Pepperdine in Malibu)
- Open for students 11-20 years old
