Student Assistance Program

  • Provides individual school counseling to students
  • Provides a quarterly newsletter, online information and parent education nights
  • Recognizes the value of group counseling and offers the following support groups:
    • A Grief Group for students who have lost a family member due to death
    • A Transfer Group to help students adjust to a new school
    • A COA Group that provides education and support to those affected by someone else’s drinking and/or drug use.
    • A Divorce Group to assist students adjusting to family changes
    • A Smoking Cessation Group which provides ongoing support and education for students wishing to stop smoking
    • A Personal Growth Group which helps students look at developmental issues and life choices
  • Coordinates the parent education program, which includes the Parent Network and the Affective Skills parent component
  • Offers a Summer Seminar program for incoming freshmen to acclimate them to the Assumption Community and to foster peer relationships
  • Implements a comprehensive alcohol and drug prevention education program
